Purpose of Thaipography Archive

Thaipography Archive is a public library for collecting images and research materials on Thai letterforms, curated by Boomtype (boomtype.xyz).

It serves as a resource for studying Thai type design and aims to benefit anyone interested in Thai typography—students, type design learners, professional type designers, and graphic designers.

Although Thai type design is a specialized field within the design industry, it has evolved significantly alongside technological and cultural developments over the past decades. Many Thai typefaces and lettering works created by local artisans remain undocumented or unseen.

This website was created to share interests, raise questions, and preserve information that might otherwise be lost.

The archive also hopes to spark conversations and discussions on topics that lack formal definitions, such as the categorization of Thai typefaces, or missing historical details—like the names of sign painters or type designers whose contributions have faded from memory.
